2010 Oldham County Lincoln Day Dinner

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2010

Nearly 200 local and state Republicans attended the Annual Oldham County Lincoln Day Dinner held on February 28, 2010 and sponsored by the Republican Party of Oldham County.  Being the primary season for many state and local elective positions, the annual Lincoln Day dinner provided a venue to meet and greet candidates for U.S. Senate, Oldham County Judge-Executive, and Oldham County magistrates, and other local elective offices.

Oldham County Republican Chair Anne Gernstein welcomed the attendees and guests.   Following a one-hour reception, the attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner and speeches by U.S. Senate candidates.

State Representative David Osborne emceed the event.   State Senator Ernie Harris provided closing remarks.  Lori Osborne and Bill Chewciw provided patriotic music entertainment , accompanied on piano by the very talented pianist Wade Campbell.

Oldham County Judge/Executive Duane Murner provided his always anticipated and traditional "Invocation to President Lincoln".

4th District Congressman Geoff Davis provided a spirited keynote speech.  Congressman Davis addressed the national debt and growing deficit, health care (insurance) reform legislation, and national security.

Three Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate were present and each were provided five minutes to address the guests.  Secretary of State Trey Grayson, Bill Johnson and Dr. Rand Paul laid out their respective vision and arguments for election to the U.S. Senate to replace the retiring Jim Bunning.

The Oldham County Republican Party and the Oldham County Republican Women’s’ Club, jointly presented the "Republican Party  Volunteer of the Year"  award to Toni Hoehle.  Toni has expended a great deal of time and energy assisting in generating revenue for both organizations for several years.  She was presented with a pair of wine glasses, etched with the GOP elephant, her name and "Republican Volunteer of the Year".

Several guests attended this annual event for the first time and stated they thoroughly enjoyed the affair and are looking forward to attending this event regularly.
